MyPHN 2016: Connecting General Practice
North Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) invites all heath providers to join us at our inaugural primary health conference at the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino in Cairns from 9-10 July. This year’s theme ‘myPHN 2016: Connecting General Practice‘ will focus on connecting health providers to deliver better health outcomes through general practice, Aboriginal Medical Services, allied health, pharmacy, dental, and hospital and health services. The 14th WONCA World Rural Health conference
The World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) is a not-for-profit organisation with 118 member organisations in 131 countries and territories. WONCA has a membership of about 500,000 family doctors. The WONCA Working Party on Rural Practice consists of up to 20 members with at least two representatives from each of the world´s regions: Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Australasia/Pacific. These members are identified with a requirement that they be a rural practitioner or have a close association with rural practice. Choosing a career as a rural medical practitioner is a fantastic chance and challenge. Europe is facing many health care issues in a changing context with an added impact on rural communities. Innovative solutions must be found and collaboration and open exchange between senior and younger practitioners is a key to success. A French study has demonstrated the significant advantages of working in a rural area for a young GP: diversity of practice, practice of «authentic» medicine in primary care, inclusion in the community and sense of belonging in the local area.
